Passes and ticket packages for the 2027 Sundance Film Festival go on sale to the public today, Thursday, October 15, at 10 a.m. Mountain Time. It is the first edition of the festival to be held in Boulder, Colorado, after more than 40 years in Park City, Utah. The festival runs January 21 to 31, with online at-home screenings from January 28 to 31 for audiences outside Colorado.
Buyers can choose from several in-person packages, according to the Denver Gazette. The full festival package costs $925 and includes 10 tickets to in-person screenings, plus early access to the schedule so holders can lock in their picks before single tickets go on sale. The encore package costs $675 and includes 10 tickets to encore screenings, which means it can't be used for a film's first public showing. A second-half package costs $450 and covers 10 tickets to screenings in the final five days of the festival. Big-money donors have already had access to much pricier passes, at $7,500 for the full festival and $6,100 for the first half only. Sundance members got a presale starting October 13, and younger attendees ages 18 to 25 and enrolled students can use discounted Ignite options.
Online festival products are also on sale. Utah residents can take 20% off online passes and packages with a promo code, a gesture to the state the festival is leaving behind. The online festival pass drops from $825 to $660, the online ticket package from $350 to $280, the short films pass from $45 to $36, and the online bundle from $60 to $48. The discount lasts until midnight on October 30 or while supplies last.
The films themselves are still a mystery. The lineup is expected to be announced in December, and single-film tickets go on sale in early January. That means early buyers are committing to a package without knowing what they will see. The main venue is Macky Auditorium on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, which will have the biggest screen in the festival's history. Other venues include the Boulder Theater and the Chautauqua Auditorium. Boulder has said it will offer free local bus service and shared e-bike passes to festivalgoers.
Prices and sale details come from reports by the Denver Gazette and TownLift. Check Sundance's official site before buying, since availability and prices can change.
